Modern luxury vinyl has come a long way. The printing and embossing on quality LVP is convincing enough that most people can't tell it from real hardwood until they touch it — and unlike hardwood, it doesn't care about spilled drinks, wet boots, pet accidents, or a basement that runs humid.
The finished result comes down almost entirely to prep. A vinyl floor telegraphs every dip and bump in the subfloor underneath it. We level, patch, and clean before a single plank goes down, then plan the layout so seams fall where they should and cuts land cleanly at the walls.

Not all vinyl is the same. The core construction is what determines durability and where it can go.
Stone-plastic composite. The most dimensionally stable option — it won't expand or contract with temperature swings, which makes it ideal for basements, sunrooms, and over radiant heat.
Wood-plastic composite. Slightly softer and warmer underfoot than SPC with better sound dampening. A good choice for living areas and bedrooms.
Adhered directly to the subfloor. The most stable option for very large open areas and heavy rolling traffic.
Planks lock together over an underlayment without adhesive. Faster to install and easy to replace a damaged plank later.
Vinyl works nearly anywhere, but there are rooms where it clearly beats every alternative.
Spills, dropped pans, and constant traffic. Waterproof vinyl handles all of it and stays comfortable to stand on.
Fully waterproof with no grout to scrub. A far better fit than laminate or engineered wood in a wet room.
Below-grade moisture destroys hardwood and laminate. Rigid core vinyl over a proper vapor barrier is built for it.

Quality LVP and LVT with an SPC or WPC core are fully waterproof — the planks themselves will not swell or delaminate. Standing water can still get through seams to the subfloor over time, so a burst pipe still needs attention, but everyday spills are a non-issue.
Sometimes. Vinyl can often go over existing tile, sheet vinyl, or well-adhered hardwood as long as the surface is flat, sound, and clean. Carpet always comes out. We'll check the subfloor and tell you which approach makes sense.
Most rooms go down in a day or two. A full main floor typically takes two to four days depending on square footage, how much old flooring has to come out, and how much subfloor prep is needed.
It's one of the best options available. Rigid core vinyl over a proper vapor barrier handles below-grade humidity and the occasional damp slab in a way hardwood and laminate simply can't.
Very well. The wear layer on quality LVP resists scratching from claws and dragged furniture, and the waterproof core means accidents get wiped up instead of soaking in. It's one of the most common reasons people choose it.
